Hablaremos cómo protegerse usted y sus fuentes en línea. En particular, cubriremos cómo pensar sobre “threat modeling”, encriptación, y varias herramientas de comunicación segura y de investigación. We will discuss how to protect yourself and your sources online. In particular, we'll cover how to think about threat modeling, encryption, and several secure communication and research tools. Bring devices you want to learn more about, and we can talk about how to set up secure software together.

Time: Two hours

Profile: Hacks/Hackers/Activists

Skills: This workshop is for people involved in the press. This includes journalists at news institutions, as well as independent media activists. This is an introductory workshop, and you do not need much knowledge about security to get started.

Level: Low

Outcome: Participants should expect to get started using several secure communications and research tools by the end of the workshop.

Requirements: We would likely need several power outlets to allow everyone to keep their devices charged as we progress through the workshop.
